Paver patios in Idaho Falls and eastern Idaho
An outdoor living space sized, sloped and edged so it drains correctly and stays flat through Idaho winters — not just a surface laid on dirt.

What separates a patio that lasts from one that doesn't
Almost every failed paver patio in eastern Idaho failed underneath, not on top. Pavers themselves are extremely durable. What moves is the base beneath them, and in a climate that freezes and thaws repeatedly from October through April, a base that wasn't excavated deep enough or compacted properly will heave, dip and open joints within a few seasons.
We excavate to depth for the soil we find on site, compact in lifts rather than all at once, and slope the finished surface away from your foundation so meltwater has somewhere to go. It's the least visible part of the job and the part that decides whether you're happy with it in year ten.
What a patio installation includes
- On-site measurement, layout and material selection
- Excavation to depth, with spoil hauled off
- Compacted road-base and bedding sand, installed in lifts
- Paver installation in your chosen pattern, with cuts made on site
- Edge restraint so the perimeter can't creep outward
- Polymeric joint sand, compacted and set
- Full cleanup and a walkthrough with you before we call it done

Sizing and layout
The most common regret we hear is a patio built too small. Furniture, a walking lane behind seated chairs, and a grill or dining area add up faster than people expect. We'll lay it out on the ground with you at the estimate so you can see the footprint before committing to it.
Pattern matters less structurally than people think and more visually than they expect. Running bond, herringbone and basketweave all perform well; herringbone interlocks best under vehicle load, which is why we default to it on driveways but treat it as an aesthetic choice on patios.
Options worth considering
Any of these are easier and cheaper to build in at the start than to add later.

What customers say about this work.
High Quality Pavers was an excellent choice when we needed a large patio built with gas timer fire pit. Bernie and his crew always arrived when they said they would, worked hard and installed the job in the time frame they said. The patio has changed the landscaping feel and added so much to the property look and fell. I highly recommend High Quality Pavers to anyone needing stone work done.
Common questions
How much does a paver patio cost in Idaho Falls?
Cost depends on square footage, the paver you choose, how much excavation and base the site needs, and whether steps, walls or drainage are involved. We give you a firm written price after a free on-site visit — there's no charge and no obligation to get that number.
How long does a paver patio take to install?
Most residential patios run three to five working days from excavation to cleanup. Larger projects, or ones with walls, steps or drainage work, take longer. We give you a schedule in writing with the price.
Will a paver patio heave in Idaho winters?
Not when the base is built for it. Freeze-thaw movement comes from water trapped in an under-compacted or poorly drained base. Correct excavation depth, compaction in lifts and proper surface slope are what prevent it, and that's where most of the work on a patio actually goes.
Can you match pavers to an existing patio?
Usually. We work with every major supplier rather than one product line, so we can often match or closely blend an existing installation. Send a photo and we'll tell you what's realistic before you commit.
